Hello everyone, I hope y’all doing great!! Oh, I’m fine thanks for asking 😋
Anyway, this book I’m reviewing here was one of the books I would have died to read; a fantasy novel with Arabic setting and the author is Muslim, just the thing I was looking for!

We hunt the flame
Publication date: 14 mai 2019
Genre: fantasy
People lived because she killed.
People died because he lived.
Zafira is the Hunter, disguising herself as a man when she braves the cursed forest of the Arz to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, assassinating those foolish enough to defy his autocratic father, the king. If Zafira was exposed as a girl, all of her achievements would be rejected; if Nasir displayed his compassion, his father would punish him in the most brutal of ways.
Both are legends in the kingdom of Arawiya—but neither wants to be.
War is brewing, and the Arz sweeps closer with each passing day, engulfing the land in shadow. When Zafira embarks on a quest to uncover a lost artifact that can restore magic to her suffering world and stop the Arz, Nasir is sent by the king on a similar mission: retrieve the artifact and kill the Hunter. But an ancient evil stirs as their journey unfolds—and the prize they seek may pose a threat greater than either can imagine.
Set in a richly detailed world inspired by ancient Arabia, We Hunt the Flame is a gripping debut of discovery, conquering fear, and taking identity into your own hands.

As I said before, this is one of the books that I was really really excited to read. I wasn’t disappointed but there was a tiny little thing that made reading it kinda uncomfortable which I’ll mention later on.
My favorite character is, unsurprisingly, Altair. He’s really cool and just making the novel much more fun to read! I read this book along with my sister who’s 14 yo and she also favors Altair.
The thing that made me really uncomfortable and sometimes frustrated was the overuse of the word “Kharra“. I mean being an Arabic native, it wasn’t that hard to figure out what each thing means, I didn’t find the use of Arabic words in this English written novel bad at all ;the author has a really great writing style that made it sooo… good. But, this one word was a problem, really, I couldn’t help but cringe everytime it was mentioned!! It literally means shit!!?!
Fortunately, Altair and his jokes were there!!
Overall, it was a good read despite that little fact, I liked how the author managed to mix things up and make such interesting novel!! Albeit the plot was kinda similar to the one of Throne of glass.

Did you read We hunt the flame?? If so, what were your thoughts?? I would love to hear from you❤️
*I’m a BD affiliate so I would get a small commission every time you purchase a book at no extra cost to you of course. Any help is greatly appreciated!! ❤️ *

I really struggled to get into it. So much so I’ve actually put it aside for now. I’d like to give it another go at some point though.
